Love Matters

Pish and tosh, sentimental fuzz:
Whatever you want to matter does.
It's up to you, you choose, you say.
Whether love or not well either's ok.
If it's health or aesthetics or privacy great
Or your last farewell or your first blind date.
They're all allowed and you're free to choose
Whatever it is that matters to you.

I must just add that you'll suffer a lot
If you choose love for top and only spot.
Love will slap you and run away
Or seem to just fade out one day.
You'll chase it forever and never catch up,
It'll look pedigree but turn out a pup.
That doesn't make it less appealing,
Just seldom real and rarely revealing.

Might I suggest an alternative pick?
Consider desire, it's a devious trick
Which doesn't require any long-term gain:
You aim or fancy but never attain.
You imagine a prize, with optional hope -
A qualification, one day to elope,
Huge wealth or a woman, they all work well.
Just don't try to make desire love, that is hell.
