Electric Screams
The oven's thicker wire
Would mean less chance of fire;
And anyway, that wall
Was less likely to fall
Beneath his squirming weight.
But it was getting late:
He measured out the cable,
Packed up the kitchen table,
Replaced the underrated fuse,
Wrapped shiny wires 'round shiny tubes,
Switched off the kitchen light,
Admired the starry night,
Lit all his birthday candles
And grabbed the copper handles.
