A howling moon as distant lovers kiss;
A stabbing black on seeing others' bliss;
A whalesong echo, deep in the abyss;
A twisting notion something is amiss;
Dismissing every new hypothesis;
Forgetting even how to take a piss;
Concealing sin in quiet parenthesis;
Desiring stuff you thought you'd never miss.
To be alone in dark metropolis;
To splutter hate from every orifice;
To suffer by your own cruel prejudice;
To drive, at speed, away from avarice;
To worship at a towering edifice
Which dedicates itself to Nemesis;
To stare down from a clifftop precipice
And wish to overcome the cowardice;
Afflicted by a mind paralysis;
Replies by ill-reflected synthesis;
And come the final, blunt analysis
Perhaps life's just a trainee chrysalis.
